Creating the Art Piece “Home”

Home is one piece in a series of four pieces that started at my residency at Snow Farm, which include “Residency”, “Trip”, and “Northampton”.

I have been working with codes and ciphers and embedding codes in a variety of my designs for Design Pool and wanted to bring that into my punch needle designs.

Each piece is inspired by a location and the color palette and shapes that relate to that specific location. “Home” is inspired by my home (no big surprise there it is right in the name). I have lived in 11 different cities / towns, nine different states and two different countries. This particular home is where I have lived the longest since leaving for college.

I used the Rosicrucian Cipher and included color to represent the columns. It was also written in a way that the text needs to be read top to bottom then bottom to top and so forth.
